Making A Big Job Easier

I want you to think about what you’ve heard about gentle parenting or positive parenting. You’re probably wondering: “If I enroll in a parenting program, am I admitting I am a terrible parent?” Well, the answer to that question is “Absolutely NOT.” Is parenting something we must learn? No, it is not. That's what I love about the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P). It doesn't tell you exactly how to raise your child. It doesn't say you're parenting wrong. It focuses on the fact that, as a parent, you have the biggest responsibility – making sure that you raise a well-adjusted, emotionally aware child. It not only gives you tools for behaviors, but also helps you learn how to manage your own stress.

Triple P is an internationally accredited and evidence-based program that aims to reduce child maltreatment within the community and to enhance the knowledge, skills, and confidence of caregivers with children aged birth to 17 years of age. It was designed to help improve parenting practices, improve child behavior, and fosters family resilience by building confidence in parents and caregivers.

By providing parenting tips and skills, Triple P encourages the development of non-violent, protective and nurturing environments for children. A Prinz (2009) study has shown that making Triple P available to all parents in a county (not just those parents at risk) led to:

Fewer hospitalizations from child abuse injuries (13% lower)

Fewer out-of-home placements (21% lower)

Slowed growth of confirmed child abuse cases (31% lower)

Triple P interventions increase parents' ability to deal with a full range of behavior problems including those within normal developmental limits to severe problems. Parents can receive in-person or online training covering a wide range of topics such as positive discipline, nap time, playtime, chores, schoolwork and parenting during COVID.

Triple P is based on the principle that parenting can be more rewarding if parents are equipped with the knowledge and skills of effective parenting, as early as possible. Most of us think of parenting as a process of trial and error; what works for one child might not work for another. That's why our training gives you various skills to "try on" and adjust to fit the needs of your family. We don't expect you to use all the tools we give you in seminars or sessions. Use the ones you think fit best. I encourage you to give Triple P a chance, visit the website triplep-parenting.net. Check out our online program Triple P Online which is your 24/7 personal, self-directed parenting program you can access from a smartphone, tablet, or computer with internet connection. It’s simple to use, engaging and interactive.

Let’s raise healthy children together!
