Body Safety Class
The Child Advocacy Center is excited to offer to your four-year-old preschool classes, at no cost to you, a unique story time opportunity. During November 1-19, the Child Advocacy Center is planning events for Harvest Awareness Month. One of the ways we are looking to do this is to offer body safety classes for our youngest citizens to give them the tools to know how to talk to trusted adults when they feel uncomfortable.
Last fiscal year, July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024, the CAC received 613 referrals and conducted 510 Forensic Interviews of child victims of abuse. It is critical that children are made aware at an early age about protection of their bodies and who to tell if they feel uncomfortable. We want to provide ways that we can promote education and bring awareness in our community. We would like to partner with you to offer an opportunity for your older preschool classes.
This year we are offering Body Safety Classes for your 4-year-old classes at your center. You could request to have a volunteer to come to your center to lead the body safety class for your 4-year-old classes.
We are partnering with Monique Burr Foundation: Child Safety Matters. They have a curriculum for preschoolers around safety rules.
One of the books we will be reading is entitled Some Parts are Not for Sharing by Julie K. Federico. Julie, a former Guidance Counselor, shares insight through a discussion among a pair of fish. The fish will lead the listener to learn about their bodies as well as learn about safe boundaries.
Please complete by October 16th to ensure we have adequate time to schedule volunteers. All Story Time’s will take place at 10:00 am.
